World's #1 Ranked Trackchaser

PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA

Our accommodations at the Marriott in Desert Springs, California were perfect for our annual Delta Sigma Pi golf outing.

This was the view from our room.  I’m always amazed to see snow on the mountains when it’s 80 degrees or warmer on the ground.

The DSP boys are ready for some golf as we unload the car for our round at the Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, California.

However, before we can get out on the links, Mike needs a little breakfast.

The clubhouse was not short on amenities.  It was very comfortable.  It had better be.  The course was closing the next afternoon because President George W. Bush was coming to speak at the club!!

This country club had everything.  Have you ever seen FLOOT MATS in a golf car?

The driving range was like walking on a grass carpet.  They even had an attendant who cleaned the clubs we had already hit while we were still on the range.

Here are the five Delta Sigma Pi Eta Mu brothers, (Phil, Randy, Jim, Bob & Mike) ready on the first tee.

Phil intently readies himself on this beautiful par 3.

Bob gets ready to release his beautiful golf swing over the water feature of this 165 yard hole.

Mike stares intently at the sno-capped mountain as he envisions success.

Jim takes one last look before uncorking an eight iron.

Randy, hitting last, shows his best side.

The bunkers were big with tons of white sand.  They were placed in the most difficult spots on the course.

At every turn the course was more beautiful.

After the round, Phil imagines what could have been.

Actually, we aren’t nearly as serious a group as this photo might seem to indicate.  Bob is just listening intently.

Mike describes the six inch putt he nearly made.  His wife Mary confirms that Mike has difficulty judging length.

Mr. Hammer was a gracious host for the entire weekend.

Mike relaxes after a beautiful round of golf.

We are just about ready to begin our second round of the weekend at the Marriott Desert Shadows course.

While everyone else was flying home on Mr. Hammer’s (he doesn’t like us to call him by his first name) private jet, I drove back to the “Little city by the sea,” with wind turbines and sno-capped mountains serving as a great memory of our weekend.
