World's #1 Ranked Trackchaser
GORDON PARK SPEEDWAY, GROVETON, GEORGIA
I
had a rare trackchasing day off the day before I went to the Gordon
Park Speedway. I played golf with good friend, George Robertson
at Bryan Park in Greensboro, North Carolina.
When
I saw this sign, I was reminded that Procter and Gamble has a huge
plant in Browns Summit, North Carolina. The plant borders the
property line of the golf course.
It's a dirty rotten job, but someone has to play on these beautiful golf courses.
I
have no idea what this sign has to do with the Gordon Park Speedway,
other than being on the Gordon Park property. Maybe I'll call
"Catfish" and find out.
I didn't have a cooler, but I did have 10 bucks.
I like it when the cars pit inside the oval, except when the racecar haulers block the backstretch view as they did tonight.
I thought these grandstands were awfully steep.
Unsupported
concrete block walls like this would never pass a California building
code. An earthquake would topple these grandstands in a matter of
seconds.
There were several low buck racing operations, like this car that arrived on an open trailer.
The
clay is red in this part of the country. Late in the season, it
is difficult to get photos of racing action because it gets dark much
sooner than in the summer.
