World's #1 Ranked Trackchaser
Trackchasing
takes a significant amount of time and effort. From time to time, it's a
good idea to take a break from trackchasing. With that in mind,
Carol and I were off to Hawaii.
With the sun setting in Waikiki, I contemplated my upcoming fall trackchasing season.
This Waikiki beach looked like a good place to recruit some young ladies to accompany our bachelor trackchasers.
A
main reason for visiting the island of Oahu was to see our son Jim and
his pad. We spent several days with Jim and everyone really
enjoyed the time together.
Honolulu is a densely populated city. Note the cruise ship visiting the island of Oahu.
The ancient volcano, Diamondhead, is now a national park.
One
of my first stops in Maui was a visit to the Paradise Speedway.
They don't run here anymore. However, when they DID run here, it
didn't look any different!
I
trackchase more than anyone else does. However, I also have a
goal of playing golf the same number of days that I trackchase each
season. This round was played at the Links at Maui Lani, an
outstanding layout.
The Lewis family has owned a timeshare unit for a long time in Maui. It's in the Paki Maui resort.
I spent a lot of time on the sofa, while Carol spent her time in the kitchen!
Soon
Carol and I were off for a round of golf at Makena's North
course. Hawaii golf has some of the most scenic ocean view holes
a golfer will find anywhere in the world.
This view is from the golf course!
The sunsets at the Paki Maui are the best.
A stop at the Kapalua Bay Course yielded yet another blue Pacific Ocean view.
No, this is not the Super 8. It's the Ihilani Resort and Spa at Ko Olina in Oahu.
This was a great location for some sunset strolls.
Whenever I get the chance, I always enjoy a little snorkeling.
My final round of golf during this trip was at the Ko Olina Golf Club.
This is the approach to the 18th hole at Ko Olina.
These mystery feet appear to be sporting quite the "Golf tan." I'll, I mean the mystery man, will have to work on this.
We
needed to confirm that the Hawaii Motor Speedway is no longer
active. I was first here in 1984. I don't think they race
here any longer.
This is the pit area at the Hawaii Motor Speedway.
Every
good vacation must come to an end. After a good Spam, eggs &
rice breakfast, I needed to head to Quebec, Canada in search of my
1,100th lifetime track.
