World's #1 Ranked Trackchaser

RANDY'S DAILY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ACTIVITIES

I often get this question from trackchasing fans, "What do you do when you're not trackchasing?"  We live just 500 yards south of the San Clemente Pier.  That's makes going to the beach a regular routine.

I like to exercise at the beach.  I mainly go on power walks and can cover about 5 miles in an hour.  Except during the summer there's not much pedestrian traffic.

The scenery is great at the beach.  Southern Californians like to build their houses on the edge to get the best view.

When I go out to exercise I can head north or south.  Going north keeps the wind against me on my outbound walk and with me on the return.  Going south is the opposite.  These picutres today come from my Southern route.

That's Seal Rock in the center.  This huge rock is always home to several seals.

These condos have a great ocean view.  Some of them are timeshares.

This is just about at my turn around point.  The rounded structure in the distance is the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant.  It's sometimes referred to as the "Dolly Parton" Nuclear Power Plant for obvious reasons.

With this type of scenery, exercising is easy and fun.

Sometimes the hillside moves.  Sometimes the house on the hillside moves.  Check out the wrought iron fence.  It moved!

We get some gorgeous blue skies in San Clemente.

We have about 45 trains a day pass between our house and the ocean.  Most are short commuter trains like this one.  Our house is so well insolated I can go days without hearing a train.  The sound of the ocean waves seems to drown them out.

How would you like to walk out on the deck of the house on the left?  How about being there during an earthquake?

Is this backyard the definition of "Pushing it to the max?"

We spend many days during the fall and winter going to UCLA basketball games.  We made trips to Oregon, Northern California as well as seeing local games at Pauley Pavilion.  This is the Staples Center home to the Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers and Kings.  UCLA's Pac-10 basketball tournament was held here.

With the UCLA fight song playing and everyone doing an "8-Clap" we're about ready to begin.

The Staples Center is a great place to watch a basketball game.  We're in the second level.  There are three levels of suites above us.

The Oregon State Beavers are in the orange uniforms.  They weren't much of a match for the Bruins today.

These are our friends, the Moodys.  They frequently travel with us to UCLA away games.  They are wild and crazy people.  We ALWAYS have a great time with them.  Today we're enjoying a post game drink atop the Standard Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

Californians are a little less inhibited than most folks in the United States.  Sometimes the Moodys are a little less inhibited than most Californians!  Here the Moody's enjoy the comfort of one of the rooftop "Pods" at the Standard Hotel.  These pods contain waterbeds and are a perfect place to celebrate a Bruin victory.

Cocktail waitresses are plentiful as Wes orders up his drinks.

We have a great view of the tall buildings in downtown Los Angeles.  Kristy works on the 34th floor of this, the tallest building in Los Angeles, the U.S. Bank Building.

We must have stayed at the Standard for awhile celebrating our victory.  It got dark all of a sudden!

The view of the L.A. nightime skyline is gorgeous.

The is the first hole on the "Muirfield 9" at the Pacific Golf Club.  It's a 568 yard par 5.  A good drive goes down the hill, a good second shot reaches golf cart in the distance and your approach should land just four feet below the hole.  From that point, it's a simple putt for birdie and your round is off to a great start!

I've been a member at the Pacific Golf Club since 1994.  I try to play two times a week, but don't always get out that often.

The golfer on the right has a 110 yard approach shot to a pin tucked into a far right side position.  The Pacific Golf Club is one of the toughest golf courses anywhere in the country.

This is my favorite view on the entire 27 hole Gary Player designed golf course.

This view is from the tee box of par 3, ninth hole on the "Royal Lythan 9".  The hole measures a distance of 213 yards.  I hope you have enjoyed getting a birdseye view of what I do at home when I'm not out on the trackchasing trail.
